Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Thompson, 42, was killed in the line of duty on Tuesday in a road rage incident by an illegal alien.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has confirmed that Juan Manuel Flores Del Toro was in the United States on a temporary agricultural worker visa, however, they had no record that he left the U.S. or extended his visa after it expired.

Further, Kittitas police officer Benito Chavez, 22, was shot in the leg, suffering a shattered femur. He was hospitalized Thursday in satisfactory condition.

The suspect was shot and later died.

“Our community has a very heavy heart today. Last night, we lost one of our finest,” Kittitas County Sheriff Gene Dana said at a news conference Wednesday morning.

This was the first fatal shooting of a law enforcement officer in Kittitas County in 92 years.

This video and statement was sent to us by a Liberty For All member and resident of Moses Lake, Vicky Rivera. The video is the escort of the body of Deputy Thompson through Moses Lake, WA.

When I heard a deputy in Kittitas was shot, I was worried it could be someone I knew.

I discovered they were bringing him to Moses Lake early in the morning and would have several escort vehicles with him.  At first I thought “Should I go down there? What if I don’t know who it is”. Then I realized it didn’t matter…he deserved the same respect whether it was a friend or not so I got dressed and went to pay my respects.

At 1:42 AM Wednesday, March 20th on Wheeler Rd, Deputy Ryan Thompson’s escort arrived with lights flashing (no sound) and I was able to say “Thank You” as they drove by. I thought there would be just a few vehicles but as you can see, there were several from multiple jurisdictions who helped bring him to Moses Lake.

Thompson was married with three children.
